Perform a pump cut-off test if you are experiencing any after drip or rumbles/flutters at burner shut-down.

Begin by dead-heading a pressure gauge into the nozzle port. The bleed port will NOT test cut-off.

Dead-head pressure gauge into the nozzle port. Make sure all fittings are tight before starting.

Turn the burner on and observe the pressure reading.

Shut the burner off — the pressure should drop 15% to 20% and hold.

If the pressure drops below 20% or slowly back to zero, replace the fuel pump.
