Using a T501 Gauge

Jan 14, 2022 | Burner Tutorials, Tutorials

This Tutorial Will Guide you Through the Steps on Using the T501 Gauge to Set the Electrodes and “Z” Dimension on F-L-&V Series Retention Heads

F, FBX, L and V head settings are set by aligning the electrode tip with the 5/16″ cross marks.

Set the electrode tip gap spacing (5/32”) by adjusting the tips to meet the two outside marks.

Position the gauge and loosen the nozzle line electrode assembly so that it can be moved forward or backward in the air tube until the nozzle becomes flush against the gauge. Tighten the nozzle line escutcheon plate screw to lock this “Z“ dimension securely.

Loosen the 5/16’’ escutcheon plate screw so the NLEA moves back and forth inside the tube

L1 Head with Straight Shroud

Place the gauge edge on the leading edge of the head, and aligning the S pointer mark with the end of the straight shroud.

When the “Z” dimension is set, lock down the 5/16” escutcheon plate screw.

V1 head, lock the head adjusting plate at the “0” position and leave the acorn nut and splined nut loose for movement back and forth.

Place the gauge edge against the leading edge of the head and align the C mark with the end of the conic shroud

When the 1 ¾ inch “Z” dimension is set, tighten the acorn nut

The “Z” dimension is now set

Use the chart only to determine the head setting for retrofit applications. Please use the Beckett OEM guide for the correct head setting on OEM applications.

(Example in the OEM guide under head type, V1-2 means you set the adjustment plate on 2 after the “Z” dimension is set)

Loosen the 5/16 inch adjusting plate screw

Adjust the plate forward to the required head setting and tighten the screw and spline nut
