Specification Guide:

The specifications below are based on Beckett’s own lab testing and are intended as a reliable starting point for technicians. These are not official OEM specifications but represent practical guidelines for achieving optimal performance with the Burner-in-a-Box.
As with all setups, a combustion test, a smoke test and final adjustments are required.

OEM Specifications vs. “Burner-in-a-Box”

OEM configurations are often tailored for specific applications, while the Burner-in-a-Box is designed for versatility across various installations. As a result, some adjustments—like pump pressure, air guide changes, or universal flange selections may be needed during setup to achieve the best results.

Why Choose the Burner-in-a-Box?

The Burner-in-a-Box delivers a flexible, reliable solution for diverse applications. While not a direct OEM replacement, it ensures consistent performance when properly configured. Beckett’s lab-tested specification guide provides technicians with a dependable starting point to optimize the burner for reliable, efficient operation, especially in high-efficiency or positive pressure appliances and direct vent systems.

RF Burner Setup Guidelines:

If the specifications you need are not listed in the guide below, follow these steps as your starting points.

The head position should be adjusted to position "2" as a starting point.

  • Moving the head to a lower number, tends to make a bushier flame.
  • Moving the head to a higher number, tends to make a longer flame.

The RF burner is supplied with 3 air guide sizes.

  • The default air guide is the white, midsize (2.0″) air guide. The air guide can be changed (if necessary) by removing the motor/blower wheel subassembly to gain access to the 2 screws retaining the air guide on the inside of the burner.
  • The red (1.5″) air guide will improve air adjustability for low firing rate and/or natural draft applications.
  • The blue (2.5″) air guide will increase the available air capacity for high firing rate and/or positive pressure appliances.

The air adjustment for the RF Burner is a single adjustment.

  • Simply loosen the air adjustment locking screw (no need to remove it) and rotate the air adjustment lever to the recommended number setting in the OEM guide before beginning combustion testing.
  • Lower numbers reduce the air, higher numbers increase the air.

Select a nozzle rating that will provide the correct firing rate at a pressure between 140psi and 180psi.

  • Typically, a 60degree-W or 60degree-A nozzle will work the best with the RF burner.

Recommended Pre and Post Purge settings for optimal performance when firing Biodiesel percentages of 20% (B20) or higher.

  • We recommend setting a 30 second pre-purge and 2 minute post-purge for B20 and higher.
