Here are some reasons why you should be proud of your decision to use Oilheat:

- Oilheat is efficient-Oilheat is significantly more efficient than other forms of heating, such as natural gas and electricity. For example, based on information from the US Department of Energy and the Gas Appliance Manufacturer's Association, new Oilheating equipment operates at an average of 85% efficiency. This is in comparison to the average natural gas atmospheric burner, which operates at approximately 60% AFUE (average fuel utilization efficiency). Additionally, Oilheat operates 64% higher than electric heat, which has an efficiency of only 31%.
- Oilheat is safe-Most of us have heard of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning from natural gas appliances and heating systems. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless and colorless gas that is poisonous if inhaled for an extended period of time. However, a properly-serviced, well-running Oilheat system provides little or no risk of emitting poisonous levels of carbon monoxide.
Oilheat systems present such a low risk for carbon monoxide poisoning because the vast majority of them are checked periodically to ensure they are running properly. Even in the very unlikely scenario that your Oilheat system is so badly out of tune as to emit carbon monoxide, then you have an obvious warning signal: smoke. This is what makes Oilheat so safe--in the improbable event that your system is emitting unsafe levels of carbon monoxide then you will be warned.
The fuel that causes the greatest potential for carbon monoxide emission is natural gas and gas-fueled appliances pose the greatest potential risk because they provide no warning signs of dangerous carbon monoxide levels.
- Oilheat is environmentally sound-Particulate matter is produced by all combustion equipment, but modern oil burners used in homes are one of the cleanest combustion sources. They are now similar to emissions from natural gas burners based on USEPA and BNL data.1
- Oilheat is in abundant supply-Our supply levels have never been as plentiful as they are right now. While oil has always been readily available, supply levels in the US are at an all-time high.
- Oilheat is a real cost-savings value-Did you know, when adjusted for inflation, the average cost of a gallon of heating oil purchased last winter was less than your parents or grandparents paid during the 1950's. Imagine that! There aren't too many products that can make that claim.
